The first session is a space to understand what’s bringing you in and what kind of support might feel most helpful. We’ll gently explore: • What has been feeling difficult • What you’re hoping to experience differently • How your body responds to stress and emotion We’ll also begin to notice your nervous system together - how it settles, how it protects and what it may need.

Not necessarily. Some people find it helpful to explore past experiences, while others focus more on what’s happening now and how it shows up in their body, emotions, or relationships. We’ll work together to find an approach that feels supportive for you.

Body-based counselling means we pay attention to more than just thoughts and words. Stress and emotions don’t just live in your mind, they live in your nervous system, showing up in breath, muscle tension, posture and subtle patterns of activation. When we gently begin to notice and nurture these patterns, change can start to feel more steady and lasting, especially if insight or talk therapy alone hasn’t been enough.

Yes. Confidentiality is a foundational part of counselling and is taken very seriously. There are a few legal and ethical limits to confidentiality (such as immediate risk of harm). This will be reviewed clearly during our first session so there is full transparency.
